Manager of FM - Classical

Listing description

tasks & Responsibilities

Develop and Foster Community Support:
   » Serve as liaison between IPM's Classical Music services and the community
   » Represent IPM Classical on Campus to academic units and student organizations
   » Work with key community partners such as regional symphony orchestras and arts organizations to grow IPM Classical's visibility and audience
   » Manage community events with other IPM depts. & partners
   » Articulate the station's vision to community, partners and supporters
Resource Development:
   » Develop revenue sources in support the programming and build on the legacy of IPM Classical
   » Build revenues to grow and diversify IPM Classical's local programs and services
   » Work with SPA to apply grants for continuing support and special projects
   » Work closely with Development on Membership and Major Donor campaigns
   » Work closely with the Development team to develop and enhance underwriting relationships and revenue
Content and Promotions:
   » Voice interstitials, on-air pitches, and occasional program hosting
   » Work with FM staff on music selection
   » Work with Director of Broadcast Operations on programming initiatives
   » Work with IPM staff, establish and achieve DEI goals in programing and outreach
   » Develop partnerships on and off campus with Krannert Center, College of Music, regional symphonies and arts organizations
   » Work with traffic and other station ?voices' on spots, promos, drops.
   » Work with cross-department colleagues on programming, digital, marketing, and development
   » Coordinates with Digital Team on content across all platforms
Administration and Operations:
   » Coordinate with Director of Broadcast Operations on everyday operations
   » Work with Traffic and Promotion staff to ensure quality programming and on-air sound
   » Maintain working relationship with all departments within the station
   » Provide constructive feedback to on-air hosts to maximize their performance
   » Work with marketing team to develop promotions, and events to raise station's profile
   » Work closely with Development to produce and execute on-air membership campaigns
   » Collaborate with Digital Team in coordinating and providing content for the app and web site
   » Establish and maintain professional relationships with independent producers, artists, composers and other industry contacts
   » Monitor trends and activities that are significant to Classical FM's mission and makes program and advocacy recommendations to the Executive Director and leadership abilities team
   » Work with Manager of DEI to capitalize on diversity in programming and outreach
   » Ensure operation of station in conformity with FCC regulations and policies
   » Work with the Executive Director on budgetary matters.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Any one or any combination totaling three (3) years (36 months) of the following types of preparation:
A. progressively more responsible work practice in the production and presentation of radio or television programs, social media, and/or print or online journalism
B. vocational training in radio and/or television production, journalism, social media, news or feature writing and/or announcing or closely related fields
C. college course work in radio/television, journalism, social media, news or feature writing or closely related fields
- 60 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
- 75 semester hours equals one (1) year and six (6) months (18 months)
- 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
- 120 semester hours or a Bachelor's degree equals three (3) years (36 months)
2. One (1) year (12 months) of work practice in the production and presentation of radio or television programs, social media, and/or print or online journalism in addition to the preparation required in #1 above.
3. One (1) year (12 months) of work practice comparable to that performed at the Media Writer/Producer/Announcer I level of this series or in other positions of comparable responsibility.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and practice
• Two years related practice
• managery practice
• Excellent communication expertise
• Strong familiarity with classical music as well as its history and repertoire, and pronunciation expertise required
• expertise of jazz and other genres valuable
• Demonstrated practice with (audio board and software?) and a high aptitude to lgain new technology.
• expertise of and practice of Classical Music marketplace
• Broadcast or digital practice,
• a strong affinity for public media
• a proven capability to lead a high-profile enterprise
• a track record of achievement in arts, music or public media
• Able to manage multiple priorities
• Excellent management and communication expertise with the capability to work in a highly collaborative work environment.
